Kolohe Andino lleva una trayectoria imparable y tiene como meta llegar al WCT tan pronto como pueda. Este chaval de 17 años se ha llevado el ASP de 4 estrellas y el Pro Junior batiendo a: Taylor Knox, Damien Hobgood, Adriano de Souza, Lucas Davis, Conner Ataúd y Halstead Jacob. Y es que cuando se junta esta nueva generación con la madura y experimentada clase de gente que esta en el WCT uno puede ver hacia donde va el nuevo surf. HURLEY MONEY CLIP
A quién le darías el premio? Los tres primeros videos participaron en el premio "Hurley Money Clip"; el premio este mes es para Scott Wilden en Kirra (ultimo video). Sabrías elegir entre un tubazo de Mick en un perfecto Kirra, un tubo desfasado en Shippers tomando una birra en bañata, o un aéreo descomunal de Yadin Nicol? al final Kirra triunfa de nuevo y lo hace con Scott Wilden.

SURF IN FUKUSHIMA
Todos conocemos el estado actual que atraviesa Japón y en especial el entorno de la Central Nuclear de Fukushima. He rescatado de la red este video de surf precisamente en esa zona y en el podemos ver cómo y cuanto ha cambiado una zona que era un pequeño paraíso.

BUEN FINDE!
Magnífico fin de semana en el Norte. El sábado especialmente hemos tenido increíbles condiciones de olas, temperatura y tiempo. Tras un largo baño pequeño pero perfecto en Rodiles de casi 4 horas volvió a resentirse mi espalda y la lesión que tenía ha vuelto a las andadas. Gracias a Tarek (www.tarekhalabi.com) por esta foto que tuvo una curiosa anécdota ya que apareció de la nada y aterrizo encima de su carcasa... el susto fue bueno, pero la foto mereció la pena y al final sólo quedó en eso, en un susto.
Great weekend in the North. On saturday we had incredible wave conditions and temperature. After a long bath, small but perfect, nearly 4 hours in Rodiles my injury back had returned like always. Thanks to Tarek (www.tarekhalabi.com) for this photo which was a curious story cause it appeared from nowhere and i almost landed on top of his camera. The shock was good but the picture worth it and at the end was only that, just a shock.Saludos a todos!!!

TERREMOTO EN BALI
Por si fuera poco la noticia abajo indicada del terremoto y tsunami en Japón, me llegan noticias de que esta madrugada Bali ha sido sacudida por un terremoto. Os dejo el relato:
Un terremoto de 6,5 grados en la escala abierta de Richter sacudió esta madrugada las aguas al noreste de la turística isla de Bali, en Indonesia, sin que las autoridades hayan informado de daños materiales o víctimas por el momento.
El temblor ocurrió a 200 kilómetros al noreste de la isla de Lombok y 250 kilómetros al noreste de Denpasar, en Bali, informó el Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos, que mide la actividad sísmica de todo el mundo.
Las autoridades no dieron la alarma de tsunami por el seísmo, cuyo epicentro se situó a 508 kilómetros de profundidad bajo el nivel del mar.
An earthquake measuring 6.5 degrees on the Richter scale shook this morning the waters of the northeast island of Bali in Indonesia, but the authorities have reported no damage or casualties so far.
The earthquake occurred 200 kilometers northeast of the island of Lombok and 250 kilometers northeast of Denpasar, in Bali.
The authorities gave no tsunami warning for the earthquake, whose epicenter was 508 kilometers beneath the sea level.

Un terremoto de 6,5 grados en la escala abierta de Richter sacudió esta madrugada las aguas al noreste de la turística isla de Bali, en Indonesia, sin que las autoridades hayan informado de daños materiales o víctimas por el momento.
El temblor ocurrió a 200 kilómetros al noreste de la isla de Lombok y 250 kilómetros al noreste de Denpasar, en Bali, informó el Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos, que mide la actividad sísmica de todo el mundo.
Las autoridades no dieron la alarma de tsunami por el seísmo, cuyo epicentro se situó a 508 kilómetros de profundidad bajo el nivel del mar.

PERFECT DAY
Increíble video de Taj en algún lugar de la costa Este de Australia con un potente swell del Norte. Condiciones muy poco habituales que cuando se juntan hacen un día de surf épico y perfecto. Escuchar a Taj en este video y ver esas olas hace que quieras dejarlo todo para buscar spots y condiciones como estas.
A parte de esto, Kelly Slater acaba de coronarse campeón del Quik Pro y vuelve a establecer nuevos records en la historia del surf. Increíble; cuando parará???. En cuanto salgan los highlights meteré una entrada. Mientras disfrutar de estas imágenes:

HIGHLIGHTS ROUND 3 QUIK PRO
Por fin sigue el Quik Pro aunque con duras condiciones por la dirección del swell y la fuerza del viento. La configuración de la linea de coste de Coolangatta junto con la dirección del swell hacen de sus playas verdaderas pruebas físicas debido a sus fuertes corrientes. Mantenerse en el pico es complicado y estar en el sitio lo es aún más. Aquí las mejores imágenes (pincha en la imagen):

NYEPI NUEVO AÑO EN BALI
Ayer día 5 de Marzo se celebró el nuevo año Indú y es conocido como el Nyepi. Es un día dedicado a la meditación donde esta prohibido salir a la calle, hacer uso de aparatos eléctricos etc etc. Bali cierra incluso su aeropuerto y las calles están vigiladas por los Jefes del los Banjar y la policia.
Aquí os dejo el relato escrito por mi padre y unas imágenes de semejante celebración:
..."Hoy es el día que celebran el año nuevo Hindu..... y su forma especial de celebrarlo es .. en primer lugar despedir el año viejo con una celebración ... que lleva consigo el pasacalles de unas figuras de hombres o mujeres grotescas con cara de demonio, dragón etc.. representando la despedida de lo peor del año 2010.... a continuación del pasacalles.... estas figuras a modo de falla Valenciana se queman.... y con eso cierra el año.
A partir de las 12 de la noche... todo el mundo ha de estar en sus casas y no encender luces, hacer ruido y estar, incluido el corte de las emisiones de TV... hasta las 6 de la mañana transcurridas 30 horas.....
Al menos nos queda internet.......... uf menos mal..... y también nos dejan la luz... ya es algo..."

Hace meses os presenté a Matt Meola con este primer video, un joven hawaiiano que desfasaba con un surfing radical. Hoy os lo presento nuevamente con el segundo video ya que gracias a el se ha llevado un premio de 100.000 dólares. Vaya surfing!!!

ROOKIE JULIAN WILSON
El rookie Julian Wilson ha despegado en el WCT con fuerza. No sólo ha pasado la primera manga sin problemas sino que además se ha llevado la "Expression Session". Este chaval despunta y seguro que será un firme candidato para estar en el top ten.

EXPRESSION SESSION QUIK PRO
Si bien la competición oficial ha sido suspendida, las respectivas "expression sessions" del Quik y Roxy Pro se han llevado a cabo. El joven y rookie Julian Wilson (Coolum, QLD) continua con su impresionante forma después de llevarse la victoria en ambas rondas de la Expression Session y se ha embolsado 2.000 dólares. El brasileño Alejo Muniz y Josh Kerr (AUS) se llevaron a casa 1.500 dólares por los mejores aéreos.
La Expression Session del Roxy fue muy interesante. Carissa Moore no.3 (HAW) se llevó el premio a la "ola más entretenida". Silvana Lima (BRA) se llevó el premio al mejor aéreo.
Los organizadores del evento vuelven a reunirse para evaluar las condiciones para un posible inicio a las 7:30 am (hora local). Cuando se reanude el Quik Pro saldrá Bede Durbidge (AUS) 28, contra el wildcard Matt Banting (AUS) 16, y en el Roxy Pro Rebecca Woods (AUS) 26, luchando contra Courtney Conlogue (AUS) 18.

World Tour rookie Julian Wilson (Coolum, QLD) continued his impressive form claiming victory in both heats of the Corona Expression Sessions to win $2000 for his efforts. The Roxy Expression Session was equally entertaining with ASP World no.3 Carissa Moore (HAW) taking out the 'most entertaining wave' award. Silvana Lima (BRA) grabbed the $1500 for the best air maneuvers.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start. When competition resumes, up first will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 28, up against wildcard Matt Banting (AUS), 16, in the opening men’s heat of Round 2 and Rebecca Woods (AUS), 26, battling Courtney Conlogue (AUS), 18, in the opening women’s heat of Round 2.
